Outside support for stopping takeover
Aqua and the DCED’s plans to force a hostile takeover of the CWA have been met with widespread opposition in the community. Since their plans became known, dozens of townships and boroughs—in addition to many state elected officials and local organizations—have written letters opposing any sale of the CWA. Customers of the CWA and other members of the public have also made their voices heard by attending meetings and hearings, signing petitions and taking legal action to try to stop the takeover.

Letter from Ratepayers in Support of CWA, sent to elected officials in Harrisburg (Feb. 27, 2021)
CWA received this letter on March 8, 2021 from two ratepayers in New Garden Township who collected petition signatures in support of CWA and legislation to support municipal water authorities (HB 144 and HB 97). The letter and petitions were sent to several elected officials in Harrisburg.
